Children and long distant relocations.

It will be noticed by the little devils well before you actually move.

As soon as the packing boxes come out expect your littlies regardless of age to begin a new routine within themselves.

If old enough obviously they bear with it and other issues come to the fore front e.g leaving friends,  moving schools, having to adjust to different shops and whatever. But their world is about to change so .. what does one do? Involve them as much as possible. From the first notice of the move involve them  even in the relocation expert selection. I recall as a 4 year old being asked what truck I liked the best I remember it was a yellow one (Viner). From four to 24 involve them in all facets and make them feel that this is a move for the family for which they are part of

My kids ready for a move

Littlies* , Mum you ought to be congratulated as the story goes.

Fairly well straight away work with the kids. Move all essential items to one part of their room or house. Work from this  and think carefully for what is essential. Nothing is worse or time consuming when you require a item you have packed and for the life of it you can't remember which box.

Keep in mind that the littlies* are moving from friends and schools , this in itself  is hugely upsetting to them and is felt like a loss be compassionate here.

(* littlies are people under the age of 24 still living with mum and dad)

I remember we had the kids living out of their packed suit cases a week before the move (goods in transit 7-10 days). Ensure you have items of security and popularity close for them.

On a positive note the worry prior to the move with babies usually is not as bad at we imagine. Kids adapt to the environment very well. In a matter of no time as soon as a routine begins after the move things are back to what they were.

Oh if traveling do yourselves a favor and stay in good quality motels or caravan / trailer Parks just for extra comfort whilst moving.

Caravan or trailer parks with cabins are terrific with  children as a few of these have activities and play areas for them to stretch out on. Keep in mind if you are traveling with littlies the in car portable duel screen DVD player is a must.

Keep your relocation with children as stress free as possible.
