Once you have instigated the quote for the relocation company check out the trucks. Many a slick presentation and salesperson  from some removalist companies end up with a 30 year old truck and two drivers straight from Alcatraz. So what's the big deal about the moving trucks,  well simple if you are covering miles firstly the truck will have a better ride to protect your belongings , secondly if the moving trucks are in a poor condition it will send the message on how your items may be treated and thirdly just common sense that the nice near new moving truck will have a better chance in a road traffic incident.

It does happen and yes will have insurance but if your house burnt down I am sure that items lost will never be replaced with all the money the insurance company will throw at you.

Also note that on the older trucks especially in wet weather can develop leaks that can also damage you goods. The main point here is if the company says they will care for your goods they should care for their moving trucks.

Moving locally and lets face it the truck isn't overly important but those long hauls and that truck has got to be its best.

A good removalist or relocation specialist will have to well maintained trucks and even better, top and well maintained people.

Furniture removal is a hot and dirty job but the professionalism of the men manning the truck will be a big influence on how they respect your worldly belongings.

I can recall one move where the company seemed professional but the driver and assistants looked like they had just seen Johnny Cash live in San Quinton, The positives of the move was the truck was nice but the door to door delivery was late and it was our worst move with minor breakage.

Minor Breakage is breakage that has not got the value to claim on insurance or is worth in a monetary sense less than the excess payment of the policy but has sentimental value. EG we lost some packed glassware , the oldest most sentimental of all and a painting in a frame.

These guys did not give a damn. May I also add I have many of the others being very cautious, courteous and helpful
