Moving to Western Australia
Currently the mineral and mining boom is offering a great
deal of employment and lifestyle choices for many from Australia and overseas.
Most of these mining jobs will in fact be located in remote areas of western
Australia. For many families life will be what you make of it in these mining
communities. Expect a friendly bunch and community type of living is to the
forefront . For many whom have tried this before reflect on in later years as a
great time in their lives. Western Australia from the top to the bottom is unique.
Moving from east to west in Australia felt like in many ways like moving to
another country but one that on the surface is no different from the one you
have just come from. I will try to explain. In Western Australia the state is
remote and for many years have only themselves to be concerned with hence
developed a different style of attitude that is part of this great state.
Western Australia first the rest second. Morally Western Australia is at the top of Australian
states. Congratulation there is no poker machines in the state and the sleazy
parts of life are very well hidden. Downside well weather can be very diverse. cold in the
south to hot in Perth and upwards. Distance is a issue in remote areas and

However once you fit in to the thinking
you too will not really care for the same issues that you once did. Perth is a
wonderful city dissected by a lovely scenic river. It offers everything that you
would expect and more. House prices are through the roof and the cost of
living is slightly higher. Cafés and restaurants are abundant. The local
government has its issues but supply of services are of good quality.
Local political issues are there but no where the same as New South Wales and
maybe Queensland. Western Australians look after themselves and have a positive
bright attitude that is unique to the West. The South East of the state is
magnificent. Green pastures, rugged coast line quant towns and history. To live
there is a pleasure but like most towns but especially in western
Australia be prepared to be involved in sport to assimilate into the local
communities. Australia rules football reigns supreme for the men and netball for
the girls don't even think about rugby( some soccer is OK ) Much of the social
activity is around theses sports and associated club.
People in Western Australia reflect this
attitude and it is a feather in their caps.
