Car  carriers, Moving your car.

Well its confirmed you have the new job and now you must pack up the family ,pets and kids and head off into the setting sun. As I have mentioned before moving house is like divorce or the stress attached to it seems that way . Like any part of moving house  you must eliminate as much stress as possible Shipping your car is in that category . 4x4 vehicle for moving

In most cases cars are shipped internally if you are relocating overseas you would weigh up your options of maybe selling or storing but in some cases usually company executive relocation the cost is part of the package from your employer her you may choose to relocate your vehicle overseas.

Please not that moving vehicles to some countries require certain safety standards that your vehicle may not have. This can be costly and in most cases Insurance for that vehicle will be extremely expensive or not available in the destination country..

Just like moving House moving your car move can be a jungle. Cost is the main concern as the mode of transport for us mere mortal is on the back of a open truck.car carrier truck (Containers or sealed trucks are available we may discuss these briefly later). These trucks are usually owned and operated by a plethora of companies.  Some multi national some owner drivers. List your concerns, Firstly You would like to have your vehicle arrive without obvious damage.

Regardless of operator your car will be handled by other people in tight confined space. damage can occur easily usually minor.

Trucks whilst in transit can have accidents Hopefully insurance will cover this. Then there is the odd  driving under a tree or bridge accident that can damage severely your pride and joy.

Always ensure you have insurance in all cases. Always book a freight company that will deliver on a certain day do not leave the arrival date open or you car could sit until the truck is full too your destination. Ensure the drop of point  is close  for you to pick up. Also check security of your vehicle upon drop off. Some depots in smaller regions  have offices unmanned  in rather odd places.

Whilst on damage there is also the  unseen damage of vehicles in transit. This usually occurs on long hauls via trucks. That usually will be in the suspension and steering of the vehicle. Always check this upon picking up your vehicle. Check for greasy marks left also on trim and upholstery.

Most will do a pre check of your vehicle when left at the drop off point before being loaded. make certain every little mark scratch, stone chip, windshield blemish is listed. This is for your benefit as well as the truck company.

And if you wish to spend the money you can have a fully enclosed truck (always check this option if you have a special vehicle or container.car container

My tip here : go on the gut feeling you get from the freight company. look for cleanliness, professionalism and courtesy. If they offer these things the chances are your car will be in the best hands possible.
